HIGH INCOME RETURNS STEEL COMPANY'S RECORD (Received January 31, 0.3S p.m.) WASHINGTON. Jan. 30 Tho Secretary of Commerce, Mr. Jesse Jones, announced that income navmonts to individuals in the United States in 1940 totalled 74,300,000,000 dollars, the largest sinco 1930, and (3 per cent above 1939. The Bethlehem Steel Corporation announced record earnings of 48,077,000 dollars in 1910. It spent 30,000,000 dollars 011 expansion, increasing its capacity to 11,850,000 tons of ingots annually. Plant is operating at 100 per cent capacity. Authority was given for the expenditure of 35,000,000 dollars for further expansion of tho company.
