INCREASE IN BIRTHS
FEWER MARRIAGES An increase of 55 in the number of births for the month of January is ! shown in tho vital statistics for Auckland. This year's, figure is 415, the figure for the same period last year being 360. There was a slight increase in the number of deaths, the figures for this vear and last year being 206 and 181. Mania ges, as reflected iti the number of notices, suffered a marked decrease. There wero 207 for January this; year and last year there were 294. The number of marriages by the registrar was 49, against 59 last year.
