RAILWAYMEN'S SOCIETY

Delegates to the biennial conference of the -Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants will meet in Wellington on .Monday, when a start will be made on an agenda paper comprising over 2-">0 remits. The conference will be opened by the new Minister of Railways. the Hon. R. Semple. There are several contentious remits on the order paper, but it is considered that owing to the war it will probably be imperative to lay down a policy allowing mobility in the work of the executive, which meets quarterly. Of the 14 delegates elected two are Auckland candidates. They are Mr. J. Elliott, locomotive workshops, and Mr. P. McLennan, maintenance department,.
