At the Thames Coast
DEAR ANNE SHIRLEY,—Have you ever been to Thornton's Bay or down the Thames Coast? It is one of the prettiest places I have been to. On very fine days tou can see
DAYS BY THE SEA —Copied sketch by Thelma BlenncrhasseU (18), D.M.B.G. Rangitoto and many other islands. The bush is beautiful, too. There are many small creeks with kowhais growing along the banks. There are also many pohutukawa trees by the sido of the road from Thames to Coromandel and Mercury Bay. Next door to us there is a polmtukawa tree which is seven or eight hundred years old. The bush is filled with the songs of the tuis, bellbirds and many other native birds. Puru is the next bay to Thornton's Bay. Puru Creek is a beautiful place for swimming, in places the pools are nine feet deep or over. Then there is Waiomo, which also has a creek, but it is not as good for swimming as Puru Creek. —Yours sincerely, Heather Day, Hamilton
