ESCAPED PRISONER THOROUGH POLICE SEARCH [ lIV TKLKGRAI'II OWN CO II It US PON I) F.N T j HAMILTON, Friday Although a thorough search was made along tho l-ailwav lino between Frankton and Tc Awamutu, and extensive inquiries were made in the neighbourhood by a large party of police from Hamilton and To Awaniiitn last night and to-day for Richard Humphreys, aged L'2, who escaped from the south-bound express about .10 o'clock last night, no trace of lite man has boon found.
Humphreys was being escorted from Auckland to Waikeria Borstal Institute and left the train while it was travelling at about 40 miles an hour. The missing prisoner is oft. lliji. in height, of medium build, brown hair, hazel eyes. He was wearing a leather overcoat, a blue polo-necked jersey, dark trousers, brown shoes. He was without a hat. Humphreys was well known in the Taupo district.
