MUNICIPAL ELECTION
MAIN ROLL CLOSING The Auckland City roll, or "district electors' list" for the triennial election of mayor and councillors on May 14, will close to-day. Many applications for enrolment have been received at the Town Hall in the past few days, particularly yesterday. Qualified persons who wish to enrol will have a further opportunity of doing so after the main roll closes, for a supplementary roll will be opened immediately and will remain available until four weeks before the poll, that is, until April 16. The continuous revision of the main roll ensures that it is kept up to date so far as ratepayers are concerned, but persons who have qualified for enrolment as "residents" are responsible for seeing that their names are entered. It is a common misapprehension that being on the Parliamentary electoral roll gives the right to vote at local elections. This is definitely not the case, and separate enrolment is necessary. The same conditions as in the city apply in tho suburban boroughs,
