BURNED TO DEATH
TWO YOUNG CHILDREN MATCH IGNITES STRAW DESTRUCTION OF SUED PARENTS ABSENT AT TIME »[nV TFXECKAI'IT I'ItKSS ASSOCIATION"] C'HR I STC lITT R.CII, f Thursday Two children were burned to death and a third suffered serious burns when a disused fowlhoti.se in which they were playing was destroyed by fire at I)unsandel to-day. The two burned to death .were Gordon James Clark, aged three, and Douglas IVrcival Clark, aged five. John Clark, aged eight, w'as admitted to tho Christehurch Public Hospital, where his condition was described as fairly serious. The tragedy occurred about 5.30 p.m. Tho mother of tho children, Mrs. A. i Clark, had just left for Dunsandel and their father was working on a farm some distance away. It is believed that one of tho children lit a match, setting light to five or six bags of straw which were lying in the fowlhouse. The eldest child ran into the road and told a neighbour, Mr. j. Jones, that his brothers wore burned, but by tho titno Mr. Jones reached tho scene tho roof of the fowlhouse hud fallen in and bo could do nothing.
