CAPTAIN W. J. WADE'S DEATH PORT REPRESENTATIVE The death has occurred of Captain W. J. Wade. M.B E., at his home in Cremorne; New South Wales, according to information received in Auckland yesterday. Captain Wade, who for the past 18 years was the representative ia Australia and New Zealand of the Manchester Ship Canal Company, the port authority for Manchester, was to hare retired at the end of December. His death occurred on Christmas Day. He was well known in export and shipping circles in Auckland.
For several years an officer and commander in the well-known Loch Line Clippers which traded regularly between Great Britain and Australia, Captain Wade was later appointed wharf superintendent at Manchester, He was promoted to general superintendent of the markets, abattoirs and cold stores in that city, from which office he resigned to take up the position ha had at the time of his death. Captain Wade was president of the Cold Stores Association of Great; Britain for five years and during the list war was chief assistant director of Cold Storage and Food Transport at the Ministry of Food. London. He was awarded the M.B.E. for his services. He is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters.
