LONDON, Jan. 8 The Daily Express asks: "What makes the Australian the toughest soldier in the world ? "He is not fond of taking orders, but once he lias taken an order, he regards that order as his own. He becomes his own general and soldier, too, and sticks at nothing until the order is carried out. "Mow about some of that spirit among our workers?" the newspaper concludes. The Times in a leading article, recalls the Australians' superiority over the Germans in night patrolling in tho last war, and adds, "It is now evident that their sons have inherited the skill and daring of their fathers."
