FARMER KILLED

WIFE AND SON INJURED CAR STRIKES POWER POLE IMPACT BRINGS DOWN WIRES [by telegraph-press association] HASTINGS, "VTednesday A farmer was killed and his wife and one child injured when a car crashed into a power pole on the Takapau Plains, 11 miles south of Waipukurau, to-night. The victims were: — Killed Mr. Baden Powell Palmer, aged 41, farmer, of Te Pohue, Hawke's Bay. Injured Mrs. Sophia Rona Palmer, aged about 38; head injuries, shock and abrasions. Condition not serious. Had fie Id Palmer, aged three; fractured skull. Condition serious. Sehvyn Palmer, aged six. escaped with bruises and shock. Men harvesting near by saw the car leave the road and strike the pole with terrific impact, bringing the power lines to the ground. Mr. Palmer died while being attended by a doctor. The others were taken to the Waipukurau Hospital.
