SIR JOHN SINCLAIR [iiv TKi.E(;n.\rn —j»rkss association j DI'XRDIX, Tuesday Tho doath lias occurred of Sir Jolm Sinclair, of Dunedin. Prior to his appointment to tho Legislative Council in 1907. Sir John Sinclair, who was horn at Anglesea, North Wales, had taken little part in public life outside his profession. He was solicitor for the Dnnedin City Corporation and other inunicinal bodies.
For some years he was chairman of the ()Jin<i 11 i;> 11 School Hoard, and he was on -the directorates of a number of financial companies in Dnnedin. Throughout his membership of the Legislative Council, from 11)07 to 11)11. be devoted himself mainly to important const it in ional and Imperial questions. I pon both these branches he was recognised as one of the highest authorities in Parliament. He was knighted in lIVIS.
