WEDGED TOGETHER
TRAMCAR AND TRUCK WELLINGTON TRAFFIC BLOCK rBY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WELLINGTON, Tuesday A collision between a tramcar and a City Council lorry which occurred shortly before 10.30 a.m. to-day at the corner of Manners and Bond Streets resulted in slight damage, but wedged the two vehicles so tightly together that it took some time to prise them apart. This necessitated a temporary deviation of both tram and motor traffic to other routes. Trams were quickly diverted to other routes, those which were already on that section of the line being backed until they reached intersections. Heavy jacks were brought into use and eventually the front of the tram was raised sufficiently, to enable the lorry to bo driven off under its own power. The tramcar bore only slight marks as a result of the collision.
