TAKANINI HORSES
• DINKY DI GOES WELL CORNISH FOR CUP EVENT NAMARA DEFEATS CILLAS The comfortable defeat of Cillas by Nainara over six furlongs, Lovaais attractively-run five furlongs and a half-mile by .Dinky .Di were noteworthy aspects of the training at Takanini yesterday, when tlie outside grass track, on which the poles were out 20 feet, was cutting out on the surface. Other good efforts were credited to Court Favourite, Cornisli and Payette. Dinky Di (Ferrall) recorded 50 3-5s for four furlongs. Although he had a very light weight, his effort- was pleasing. He is apparently on tin? up-grade. Payette (Waddell) surprised by extending Bronwen (Spinley) to record 51s. her effort being encouraging for one of her class. Court Favourite (Cleaver) began three lengths behind Minko (Beguely) in their gallop over half a mile, but ranged alongside in the straight and there was little between them in recording 51s. Miss Gay (Waddell) had a little the better of Silver Clarion (Petley) in 51. 8-ss, this gallop being from the five-furlong post to the one furlong. Glen Connell (Walters) was always under restraint while covering half a mile in 52 2-ss. While it was not a severe test, lie pulled np in much better order than when galloped last week. Lovaals (Brown) took the honours over five furlongs in 1.4 1-5, when she relished the conditions. Arvakur (McMinn) and Orelio (Jackson) traversed the distance in 1.1 3-5, with Arvakur finishing full of running. Cornish (Waddell) and Full Hand (Smith) were associated over six furiongs in 1.19 3-5. the former handling the conditions better, although they finished together. Cornish is to contest the Alison Cup, in which he will be ridden by S. Waddell. Xamnra (Beguely) decisively defeated Cillas (Gray) over six furlongs in 1.18 3-5, Cillas leaving the track a trifle sore, but H E. Gray stated subsequently that the trouble was a bruised fpot, which was expected quickly to respond to treatment.
