POLITICAL OPPORTUNISM
Sir, —The Press Association news on Saturday last indicates: First, that in Wellington the previous day the Prime Minister,' when commenting on the statement of Lord Stamp and Captain Lyttleton regarding restrictions on trade, made political capital out of this wartime necessity by stating that it proved Mr. Nash, in his past policy, to be "100 per cent" right''; secondly, that Mr. Semple, speaking on the same day in Dunedin on Home Guard affairs, said, "There should be no politics in this business at all. A man who cannot forget his politics when the country is in jeopardy is either a fool or a humbug, or both." Most people will consider Mr. Semple "100 per cent right." Carey J. Carrington.
