! FALSE DECLARATION CASE , [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TE AROHA, Tuesday In the Te Aroha Magistrate's Court Victor Anderton, eav salesman, admitted making a false declaration in August to the Auckland Fuel Controller. Constable Monson said that defendant borrowed a car belonging to his employers without their knowledge to attend a funeral in Auckland 011 Sunday, August IS. Anderton said ho borrowed coupons to make the journey from To Aroha as he 4 could not make application locally for a special licence 011 that day. He did not have sufficient petrol to drive back the following day and made application in the name of the firm by whom ho was employed. The magistrate, Mr. W. H. Freeman, said the circumstances were entirely different from those usual in a case of this nature, although it was definitely wrong to make a false declaration.
Defendant was fined £2 10s and costs. Time was given in which to pay on account of defendant now bcinc unemployed.
