LAND BOARD ELECTION

An election to fill the vacancy on the' Auckland Land Board created by the expiry of the term of office of Miv A. S. Sutherland, of Ngariiawahia, was held on Monday. Mr. Sutherland sought re-election and was opposed by Mr. CH Burnett, of Tauranga. The voting resulted:—Mr. Sutherland. 864; Mr. Burnett. 125. Mr. Sutherland has been - a member since 1932 and has hitherto been returned unopposed at the biennial elections.
