[iJY TELEGRAPH —OWN' CORRESPONDENT]

WELANGAREI. Friday Support was accorded by the Whangarei Harbour Board to the proposal that a further area of 140 acres of native bush be purchased at Kiripaka to enlarge the present scenic reserve of 85 .acres. It was mentioned by the secretary, Mr. W. M. Fraser, that this area "was already being worked for mine props, but "the mine owners had refused to take any kauri rikas as props. The North Auckland Forest Society had interested the Government departments concerned, and it was, likely that next year a grant would be made to assist in the purchase of the area.
