Tommy's Dream
Tommy sal on the golden sands, And let some shells run through his hands; Then with a movement sudden and quick, He poked a large crab with a stick; And right before his very eyes, The crab grew to tremendous size. "Now, 7 ommy Brown, what do you say, To such bad behaviour on holiday? Poor 7 ommy blinked, he couldn I talk., The crab picked a Waving green grass stalk, And before Tommy could even cry, A grating sound Was heard near by. And hundreds of crabs, both big and small, Came tumbling out of an old brick "jail. And they all pinched Tommy With awful glee, And as for sand, Tommy couldn't see. He cried for help, and heard a shout, And quick as a wink, without a doubt, The crabs grew suddenly small again, And Tommy gave a cry of pain, To find With joy that nipping his coat, Instead of a crab Was a billy-goat. —Original, by Valerie Spanner (15), M.B.G.
