Whangartini, has all its 15 players in the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, the majority being with the Maori Battalion. Some are now overseas with the first echelon and others are in camp with the second echelon. The members who left this week after their leave, were given a rousing farewell by tho residents of Wha ngaruru.

They were Gunner l'\ A. .lenyns and Private R. Jenyns. his son. Gunner .lenyns was a member ot the Railway Department statf at Whangarei and in his younger days was well-known in the sporting field. His son. Private Jenyns. is also a keen footballer, cricketer and tennis player. HAMILTON RECRUITING GS VOLUNTEERS IN WEEK [FROM OUR OWN CORRF.SeONDF.NT] HAMILTON, Friday With 68 men voluntering for active service overseas, the past week has been the best recruiting week experienced in the No. 4 (Hamilton) area since the second echelon went into camp. The area now has 400 men a\ailable to meet the quota of 571 for tho third echelon. PUTARURU RECEPTION CHEQUE FOR EACH MAN . [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] rUTAKURU, Friday A public reception to men of the second echelon, arranged bv tho Putaruru Soldiers' Social Committee, was held in the Putaruru Town Hall, about ;350 people attending. Mr. I . D. Mo! risen president of the committee, called on Mr. H. W. Dixon to make a presentation to each man of a cheque and a letter from the Putaruru branch ot the Returned Soldiers' Association. Mtmlar presentations were made to men o Tokoroa at a function there.

Reference was also made and ; pood wishes sent to Messrs H. Green and W. Luxford, members of the start who left with the first echelon and are now in Egypt.
