BUSH FATALITY

INQUEST AT PUTARURU [from 01.tr OWN' correspondent] PUTARURU. Friday An inquest was opened at Putarnru before the district coroner, Mr. M. St. J. Paxtoti, into the death of Mr. Samuel Fabian Wells, who was killed by a falling tree at Te Whetu. Constable Cotter described the scene of the accident and stated that from his inquiries he felt satisfied that the fatalityhad boon purely accidental. Norman Cross, who felled the tree, said that from the position in which lie found deceased lie was probably sitting 011 a- tree stump, and it was likely he did not see the tree coming toward him. The coroner adjourned the inquest to allow the relatives of the deceased to be represented at the proceedings if tliev wished.
