RUGBY IN SCHOOLS
SMALLER BALL SUGGESTED [ 11V TKI.KC It A I'll —OWN COH It KSI'ONDKVI'] TTASTINTIS, Thursday A smaller hall and smaller playing area should he used for playing primary schools' Uughv, according to a suggestion made at a meeting of the Hastings Rugby Siih-union by Mr. c;. A. Maddison. lie said (hat a smaller field and smaller ball would not tax the energies of the boys so much and would provide more spectacular football. "It would be in the interests of school football and the boys themselves if this idea was put into operation. A survey of New /.calami has shown that the usual game took too much out of the boys, with the result that grade foot ball suffered. I would like to see a trial made here." It was decided to recommend the suggestion to the Primary Schools" Association.
