PIONEER'S DEATH
MR. ANTHONY MASSEY, EARLY DAYS IN NORTH Quo of the pioneers of North Auckland, Mr.. Anthony Massey, died at Papakura at the age of 75. His parents, tho late Mr. and Mrs. John Massey, were members of the Albertland party ivlio arrived in New Zealand in 1563 by the ship Tyburnia. They took up land in the Maungaturoto district, and Mr. Anthony Massey, who was the eldest son, lived upon the original farm block &for over CO years. Subsequently be left his son in occupation of the property and took up residence at Papakura. Bori; in the north when the district was roadless, Mr."Massey endured the hardships of the early pioneer days. Possessed of an exceptionally good knowledge of stock, he was for many years a familiar figure at northern stock sales. Jle leaves a widow, three sons and two daughters.
