STORY OF RAID
DUBLIN MAGAZINE FORT GUARDS OVERPOWERED SEVEN MEN BEFORE COURT DUBLIN, Jan. 2 Seven men were remanded to-day in the District Court, which was strongly guarded, on charges of breaking into the Phoenix Park magazine fort and stealing 1,000,000 rounds of ammunition. It was stated that 12 soldiers occupied tho fort behind iron-barred wooden gates. The captain was absent. Tho bell rang at 8.45 p.m. and tho corporal who answered it was confronted by ;f cyclist, who presented a revolver and exclaimed: "Stick them up or I will blow out your brains." A group of men rushed out of a hiding, place, seized the corporal and inarched him to tho guardroom, collecting a passing private en route. Confining to the room the other members of tho guard who wero found sitting round a fire,-"the raiders, augmented by now arrivals, made the corporal disarm the magazine sentry. The raiders took the captain prisoner immediately ho returned. Lorries were driven into the fort, the whole of the telephone wires having been already cut, and the ammunition was leaded on them. Tho raiders then rushed off.
