THE CENTENNIAL
THANKSGIVING SERVICE GATHERING IN DOMAIN ARRANGEMENTS FOR SUNDAY Thousands of people are expected to gather at the Domain cricket ground on Sunday afternoon for the united thanksgiving service, which will inaugurate the centennial celebrations in tho city. The service will begin at three o'clock and will be attended by the Governor-General, Viscount Gaiway. The Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, will preside. Representative clergymen will take part in the service, which will be conducted from a specially-designed platform. The Governor-General will read a lesson from the New Testament and Archbishop Averill will give an address. The singing will be led by a massed choir, conducted by Mr. Albert Bryant, assisted by the Salvation Army Band, with an organ accompaniment by Mr. G. Wilson. During the service the public will be mainly accommodated on the slopes around the grandstand. The grandstand and special enclosure will be reserved for various guests. Churches of all denominations will hold special centennial thanksgiving services on Sunday morning or evening. Pontifical Solemn Mass will be sung in St. Patrick's Cathedral, tho celebrant being Bishop Liston, who will also deliver the occasional address. Celebrations of the same character are to be held in other Roman Catholic parishes throughout the province.
