NEW YEAR WEDDING

PRICE—HISCOCKS SERVICE IN CATHEDRAL An attractive wedding took place at St. Patrick's Cathedral on Tuesday morning, when Miss Frances Josephine Hiscocks, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hiscocks, of Ponsonbv, was married to Mr. William Kennedy Price, ol Te Aroha, eldest sou of Mr. and Mrs. William Price, of Grey Lynn. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev, Dr. Buxton,, and the bride's father presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Noel Hiscocks, wore a beautiful gown of ivory slipper satin cut on classical lines, the bodice being soft I v shirred to a high waistline, and the V-neck finished with a band of appliqued tulle. The heart-shaped train was edged with pleating and over this fell her veil of tulle from a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet. The three bridesmaids, .hiss .joy Hunt and the Misses Valerie and Connie Brokenshire, wore frocks of net over taffetas in shades of lavender. pink and blue respectively. They also carried shower bouquets. Ihe flower girl? Noclene Alichie. wore a gold-shaded frock cut on similar lines to those of the other attendants and carried a posy to tone. The bridegroom \vas'attended bv Mr. 11. Prentice as best man and by his brothers. Messrs. Desmond and Jack Price, as groomsmen. At the reception in the Parncll lea Kiosk the guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore navy sheer georgette and a navy with white flowers and veil. Mrs. Price wore an ensemble of dusky pink with navy accessories. Both carried .shower bouquets. WRIGHT —HOLMES A wedding of interest was celebrated at St. Bride's Anglican Church, Otorohanga, recent!v. when Miss Lileen Millicent Holmes, elder daughter of Mrs. A. L. Holmes and the late Mr. W. A. Holmes, of Otorohanga, was married to Mr. Lionel Wilbur Wright, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Wright, of Tuakau. The Hey. A. IS. Addis officiated and Miss Webster was the organist. The boys' choir, which was in attendance, was conducted by Mr. Munro. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. James .Sterritt, of To Awamutu. wore a gown of magnolia satin hand-smocked at the waist and across the shoulders. The tulle veil fell from a pleated halo head-dress over the circular train of her frock, and she carried a bouquet of cream lilies and carnations. The bride was attended by_ her sisters, the Misses Florinda, and Kathleen Holmes, whose hocks of Marina blue taffetas were fashioned with circular skirts and full puff sleeves and trimmed with violet to match their head-dresses and bouquets of sweet peas. Mr. L. Voisey, of Arapuni, was best man and Mr. 11. Hicks was groomsman. A largely-attended reception was later held "at the Otorohanga Town Hall annexe, where Mrs. Holmes received her guests wearing a frock of rust embossed cloque, and a black hat. She carried an armlet bouquet of dahlias. Mrs. Wright was in a navy ensemble and carried a bouquet of autumn-shaded flowers. Mr. and Airs. Wright will make their home at To Kuiti. THOMPSON—BROOME-Wll .SON [fhom our own cokiiksponuknt] LONDON. Dec. 15 The marriage took place on November 21 of Mr. Lisle Broughton Thompson, only son, of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Thompson, of Auckland, and Miss Dorotnic Marjorie Broome-Wilson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. BroomeWilson, of Burslem, Staffordshire. The bridegroom, who is a graduate of Canterbury University College, has just completed a three years' course in electrical engineering with the Aletro-politan-Vickers Electrical Company, in Manchester. With li is bride he will leave shortly for New Zealand. The bride, who was given away by her father, was dressed»in a blue gown embroidered with small tufts of blue and yellow wool. Her furs were twin fox, and her small hat,was of brown felt. The bridal bouquet was of pink roses attached to her fox muff. Mr. W. B. Williams, of Norfolk, was best man. After the ceremony a guard of honour was formed by members of the British Red Cross Society, of which the bride is an active member. Among the guests were Air. and Airs. D. Al. Cherry, of Auckland. HARBISON—WEBB [from our own conrksrondent] LONDON, Dec. 15 The marriage took place on December 11, at St. John's, Smith Square, S.W., of Captain John Brvden Harrison. Sth Punjab Regiment, sou of Major and Airs. W. T. Harrison, of Barton-on-Sea, and Aliss Rhona Alary Webb, elder daughter of Mr. and Airs. G. R. Holden Webb, of Wellington. Canon Barry, D.5.0., D.D., officiated.
