TAXING THE SOLDIER
Sir, —On reading Mr. leash's remarks re income tax, I was shocked to sec that lie even let a thought enter his head in regard to making the soldiers pay income tax. Our brave men took no thought oi : themselves when the call came for the Special Force, but gladly offered their all and their families helped by being brave. They are only getting 7s Gd a day and have gone through hard training to do their part. Jt would look better if .Mr. Nash and others helped to give the soldiers more money instead of thinking of making them pay income tax. The Government should also see that their families, ar n well looked after while our men are away. We are at present blessed with peace and safety, but for how long? Let our soldiers feel that we are more than proud of them and that they have our Jove and prayers for God's care and protection for them. Elizabeth Johnston.
