Wednesday Indicative of the. rapid growth of Hamilton are the building figures for last year, which show that for the first time in the history of the town more than £250,000 was invested in buildings. The total permits of 348 were also a record, the number issued during 1938 being 307. Houses built totalled 164, 127 homes being erected in 1938. Last year -58 State housing units were also completed, but these have not been included in the total. Last month, the issue of permits to a total value 0f.£26,350 created one of the highest totals for December on record. Fifteen permits were issued in December, compared with 27 for the same month in 1938, when the value of the buildings was £'16,567.
