OBITUARY
MR. R. A. MEAD [FROM OUR OWN* OOKKKSPONDENt"! HAMILTON, Wednesday. The death has occurred of Mr. Roderick Arthur Mead, of Waitetima, aged 58. Mr. Mead was a well-known competitor at sheep-dog trials throughout New Zealand and also judged at a number of trials. He was born in Nelson and as a young man worked as a shepherd on several stations. . Later he managed a number of stations, including the well-known Matengareka and Cape Runaway holdings. Mr. Mead is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
MR. D. H. MADILL [from our own correspondent] TUAKAU, Wednesday The death has occurred in Auckland of Mr. Dftvid Henry Madill, aged 72. Mr. Madill was part proprietor of the large Lone-crushing mill at Tuakau for a nurtftber of years and his business interests in that connection took him regularly through both tho North and South Islands. He was born in County Monaghan, Ireland, and as a boy was for three years in Canada with his parents. Tlie family came from Canada to New Zealand 54 years ago and settled first at Pukekohe and Tater at Tuakau. Mr. Madill farmed at Tuakau for a number of rears and Avas later in business in Auckland for about nine years. He returned to Tuakau and managed the mill there until about six years ago, when he retired. He is survived by &■ son and a daughter. -
