THE EXHIBITION
WORK DONE BY CRIPPLES [bv telegraph—OWN con respondent] WELLINGTON. Friday Fine embroidery by a girl of 16. paralysed and dumb and able to move only one foot, is a remarkable exhibit on the stand of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society »at the exhibition. The girl's moth,er stretched the cloth on the frame and threaded the needle., stated the welfare officer in charge of the exhibit yesterday. Everything else was done by the girl herself. She is now being taught to type with her foot, and, through this ability, to read.
A bea Tul woollen rug, with the Wellington city coat-of-arms worked on it, is the work of a partially paralysed young man of 24, who has been studying at the Wellington Technical College. A boy whose hands are badly twisted .has sent from Auckland some beautiful brass, book-ends, embossed leather-work and paintings. He can neither rea\ nor write, but is a finished craftsman.
