DENNISTON DISPUTE
MINE REMAINS IDLE NO PROGRESS TO SETTLEMENT [by telegraph—PllESS association] "WESTPORT, Friday The Denniston mining dispute is still unsettled. A deputation representing various coal miners' organisations interviewed the management this evening, seeking a settlement of the dispute regarding large tubs introduced into the mine, but the company declined to give way. A request for a supply of a limited amount of coal for use in the houses of miners was also rejected. The committee was hopeful that the dispute would be settled to-night to enable work to be resumed on Monday,' but settlement now seems further off than ever.
