FANCY DRESS PARTY
CHILDREN ENTERTAINED TIRAU ANGLICAN GUILD There was a happy gathering in the Tirau Town Hall last week, when over 100 children in colourful fancy dress attended a party. Tho function was organised by members of the Tirau Women's Anglican Guild, who were assisted by the staff of the Tirau School. Proceedings opened with the grand march. Many charming toy soldiers, pierrots and pierrettes, gnomes, fairies with sparkling wings, page boys in satin suits and wigs, nigger minstrels and shepherdesses were all on parade and presented a picture of colour and variety. Following the grand march a programme of dances and games was presented by the children, their efforts reflecting great credit on the teaching staff of the Tirau School, who had trained them. A brief welcome was extended to the guests by Mr. G. Seton, who explained that the function was being held to augment the funds of the church.
Supper, which was provided by the ■parents, was served fo the children in tho room adjoining tho hall. The latter part of the evening \v,-is spent with a programme of modern and old-time dance numbers for the adults.
