HOUSE DESTROYED
NEAR BY COTTAGE SAVED [from OUIt'OWN correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Tuesday The assistance of neighbours in forming a bucket brigade saved one cottage from being destroyed by fire at Hautapu last night, when a near by dwelling was burned to the ground. Mr. W. Guy, who lives with his and two children in a cottage owne by Mr. D. Bourke, woke to find the kitchen ablaze. After hurrying his wife and children outside he called t 0 neighbours and much of the furniture and effects were removed before t e fire took command. It was then decided to concentra e on the house of Mrs. J. Stuart, w ■ was threatened by the llames. tically everything was removed from her house. The workers were supple- j in en ted by men from the bach at 10 j Hautapu factory just when the house was smoking and a shed at the caught alight. The side was cut ou the shed and then a bucket brigade "- formed with utensils or all- descriptions-. Ample water was available.
