■WOETOtf GOES FAST odtaa moves pleasingly AUBURN LAI) SHAPES WELL The two-year-olds Worton, Night Pilot and Itoval Descent were responsible for fast sprints at Ellerslie yesterday, when Od.taci dso pleased over live furlongs. The No: 2 grass track was used for fast work, the conditions being perfect. On the; grass, Wapaugh (Dowrick) covered five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. After running the first two furlongs in 12 2-ss, Silver Stick (Farrell) was going veil within himself at the conclusion of half a mile in 495. Silver Stick worked pleasingity, and the first time he reproduces his track efforts he should nearly win. Prudent (Farrell) had the measure of Beaucoup (Gilchrist) at the end of three furlongs in 3S 1-os.
Paint (Hearn) was under a good hold to complete three furlongs in 395. The Romney gelding is on the burly side at present and has not been asked to do a great deal as yet. Pasture (Akerstein) and Biddy Girl (Murray) were going easily at the finish of half a mile in 51 4-ss. Pasture's appearance and her latest track work suggest that she should show np in early engagements. The steeplechaser Caurnie (Ryan) ran the last six furlongs of a round in 1.10 4-5. and the last half-mile in 32 3-ss. Two-year-olds Sprint Night Pilot (Wiggins) was being kicked up to finish with Royal Descent (Markwick) at the end of three furlongs in 3G 3-os, the best of the morning for the distance. Night Pilot, who is to make his debut at Te Rapa on Saturday, is shaping very promisingly and may prove more than useful after he has had a race or two. Royal Descent was responsible for his best effort to date, and the first appearance of the half-brother to High Caste will be awaited with interest. Auburn Lad (Messervy) appeared to have more in reserve Jiian Water Hound (Wiggins) at the conclusion of half a mile in 50 l-ss, the first furlong being run in 12 2-ss. Both two-year-olds are to make their debut at the Waikato Racing Club's Spring Meeting. Auburn Lad, who appears a ready-made youngster, may bo capable of a prominent showing. The best figures of the morning were recorded by Worton. (Farrell), who sprinted half a mile in the smart time of -IS 4-ss, afrer running the first furlong in 12s. Worton is to have his first race on the second day of. the Auckland Racing Club's Mid-Spring Meeting next Monday week. True. Bill (Day) hit out with plenty of dash over three furlongs in 37 3-ss. The Surveyor gelding lias settled down a good j dea 1 since being taken over by W. J. McLean., and he may yet fulfil his early promise. Happicoat Finishes Strongly Boy Lu (Do wrick) 'was not extended to run half a mile in o£is. Happicoat (Gilchrist) was finishing in great style at the end of three furlongs in 36 -l-ss. Happicoat has fully recovered from her recent ailment, and she is capable of giving a. good account of herself in. the juvenile events at Te Rapa. The novice Digger Jim (McGrath) was not ridden out to complete half a mile in 5-ls. .• Valspear (Coon) covered six furlongs in 1J.7 2-5, the last half-mile Ln .52 -2-ss. He went fast in the early stages, but was tiring at the end. After running the first two in 255, Odtaa (Messervy) got to the end of five furlongs in 1.2 2-5. It was an impressive effort and showed Odtaa to be all tho better for his racing at Whingarei. On the tan, Konneta (Holland) attracted attention by the easy manner in which she sprinted half a mile in 53 3-ss, the last three furlongs in 40 *i-os. Although she has not raced since the Grand National meeting. Konneta looks well forward and may not be far from her besrt when produced at E'.lersiie next week. . After winning the Juvenile Handicap In impulsive .style on the Erst day of the Avondale Jockey Clnb'i! Second Spring Meeting on Saturday, the. two-year-old Phaleron developed foot trouble, which was the canse of his non-appearance on Monday. Although Phnieron .was. still, slightly tender yesterday morning, the trouble is responding well to ; treatment- and , it-<is expected, that, he.,will t be ablo to* race at 1 Ellerslie next week.
Appeal succeeds : DISQUALIFICATION LIFTED DECISION BY CONFERENCE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS association] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The New Zealand Racing. Conference has issued its judgment on the appeal under Rule 370 of the Rules of Racing by G. A. lieDonell for the removal of the disqualification of the horses Highball and Beau Monde, which was incurred by reason of C. A. Crosby, falsely known as A. J.' McCormac, a person disqualified for life under the namo of R. B. Mclntyre, having acquired an interest in the former horse and having the latter horse in his charge. The judgment is as follows: "That after hearing appellant in this matter we are of the opinion we shonld nccept his explanation that ho had no knowledge of A. J. McCormax's real identity. Accordingly the disqualification of the horses Highhall'and Beau Monde should be removed."

SUCCESSES AT AVONDALE NINE VICTORIES ACHIEVED . With nine firsts, three seconds and six thirds, horses trained at Ellerslie secured £2OOO of the prize-money distributed at the Avondale Jockey Club's Second Spring Meeting last Saturday and Monday, a further tribute to the suitability of Ellerslie as a training centre. The winners were Ivy Willonyx (two). Cintrace, Phaleron, Orate, Royal Message, Nightbeam, Sebrof and Land Girl. Those to run second were Silver Qucx, Knight of Australia and Ringshot, while Koyal Message, Beverley, Royal Abb, Fidelis, Tea Gong and Royal Appellant each gained a third.
