PHYSICAL CULTURE
FACILITIES FOR SPORT NEW HALL AT MORRINSVILLE Provision for all indoor sports has been made in the new hall erected by the Morrinsville Physical Culture Club, which will be officially opened by the Mayor of Morrinsville, Mr. W. Hetherington, to-day. The building is intended to provide facilities for boxing and wrestling on a staging measuring 58 feet by 10 feet, and for basketball, badminton, physical culture, gymnastics and dancing in the body of the hall, which measures 85 feet by 50 feet. Provision has been made for portable rings on the staging, so that this may also be used as a supper room when diujccs are being held on the main floor. Tlfe hall is electrically heated. Tho front of the building comprises two dressing or committee rooms. The building is valued at XUoOO, and was built by voluntary labour, the capital required being all raised in the Morrinsville district by debentures. The Morrinsville Physical Culture Chib has been in exislance only five years, but during that period has turned out some fairly good amateur boxers and wrestlers. Its operations liave previously been conducted in rented premises. The new building is the culmination of hard work by some of tho original members, Messrs. M. G. Philpott, S. Blontfield, P. Hobson. F. Hubbard and A. L. and A. V. Nicholson. Also very active since tho foundation have been the present president, Mr. K. Kellv. and tho secretaries, Messrs. G. Dixon and I!. Weekly. Mr. Philpott is still vice-president and treasurer. Mr. L. H. Lamer, formerly of Auckland, has also been prominently associated with the club.
