Baked With Prunes
i For four persons take carrots, j ilb. lean bacon, eight small prunes, t soared for about one hour in warm | water, salt, pepper, few drops of i onion juice, about one tablespoon of j sugar, about loz. of butter or bacon ; fat. Clean and cut carrots in very thin j rounds. Wash and dry them, leading : them in a cloth for a little while j until all the moisture is absorbed, j Melt butler or fat in a deep pan, and j saute the carrots until some become | slightly browned. Add bacon cut into ; small pieces, and let it get Warmed \ through with the carrots. Add salt, { pepper, sugar and onion juice, and j mix well. Butter Well a baking dish, j one that has a cover if possible; : otherwise cover with well-buttered j grease-proof paper after placing mix- j turc in dish. Bury the prunes, after j they have been Well .dried, into the j carrot mixture, and bake in a medium : oven for about /i hours. For the last j few minutes let it brown and serve : in the baking dish. ;
