DEBT AND CREDIT

Sir, —Mr. John A. Lee, M.P., in his speech strongly denounced what -.lie calls the "debt system." If his party feel so strongly on the subject, why did they not use the £40.000,000 iii London when they came into power to buy up existing loans and thereby reduce the debt? Furthermore, they have borrowed in London and New Zealand since coming 'into power. They are not even consistent. Mr. Lee, if he dislikes the "debt system," must also object to the "credit system." as one cannot exist without the other. Docs lie propose that all transactions, including commercial, shall bo on the basis of cash and no credit, and therefore no debt? Business Man.
