NORTH SHORE BUSES
NO AGREEMENT ON FARES No agreement on the scale of fares to be charged bv transport companies Operating on the North Shore waa reached by their representatives and those of interested local authorities at a meeting yesterday. Rising costs due to higher taxation were put forward by the bus companies' representatives as the reason for the higher rates they suggested, and it was mentioned by Mr. A. S. Bailoy, on behalf of the North Shore Transport Company, that the extra cost involved would bo about £SOO. / The Birkenhead Borough Council, it was stated, approved of the increase in its area. The matter will be referred to the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority, Mr. E. J. Phelan. • -
