STAFF DINNER
CHARLES BEGG, LIMITED Following the opening of ' Charles Begg and Company, . Limited's, new premises on the corner of Vulcan Lane and Queen Street, the directors entertained members of the staff of Begg's and Arthur Eady, Limited, and their friends at a dinner given in the Overseas League rooms. During the evening •various toasts were honoured and the presentation of a chiming clock suitably inscribed was made to Mr. Charles E. I Begg, chairman of directors and general manager, by Mr. Frank Campbell, Auckland manager, on behalf of the staff ,as a token of the esteem and regard .in-rwhich he-is-held... On behalf of the-managers and staff of all of Begg's branches, Mr. C. A. Rendle, a director and manager of *the Wellington branch, presented Mr. Begg with a suitably inscribed barometer. Mr. Frank Campbell was also the recipient of an inscribed chiming clock from the Auckland staff and a standard lamp from the directors. After dinner dancing and various items were rendered, including songs by The Lyric Four, and Mr. L. Travers, Christchurch manager of ; Begg's_, humorous items by Mr. Alan McElwain, and violin solos by Mr. W. Bingon.
