DOMINION CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS ALLOTTED The nnnutil conference of delegates to centres of the New Zealand Swimming Association in Wellington allotted tlie Taranaki centre the junior and intermediate championships for 1911, Auckland the senior championships for 1011 and Nelson centre 4 the senior national championships for 1012, during the celebration of the Nelson centennial. The following remits were curried: —That raised lanes shall be compulsory for all championship backstroke events; that ttie championship points be allotted for the junior and Intermediate championship shield as for the Yaldhurst Shield; that all centre carnival championships be started with a starting gun; that the law requiring centres to be represented at the conference by delegates resident within, the centre be reconsidered; that section two of law 23 be deleted, and that the following be substituted: "In all handicap events the scratch or virtual scratch man shall take the right or left-hand position facing the water, and the other competitors shall take up their positions as shown in the programme"; that breaststroke and backstroke races he added to school championships; The following distances were suggested:—Breaststroke: Senior boys, 00 2-3 yds; senior girls, 50yds; junior boys, OOvds; junior girls,/331-3yds. Backstroke: Senior lioys, 50yds; senior girls, 33 l-3yds; junior boys, 33 l-3yds; junior girls, 25yds. It was decided that there be two conditions governing the presentation of an honorary New Zealand blaz.cr: (a) For a term of years of service to swimming (in the case of centre secretaries, in the absence of any other qualification such term to be five years), and (b) for outstanding services in the interests of swimming, when the blazer committee, or the committee making the presentation, shall lake into account the recommendations -made by the centre which is making application for such presentation. The following remit was referred to tho centres: —That the council of the association keep a record of all members of swimming clubs undertaking military service, (a) overseas, and (b) for home defence, and that centres be responsible for the compilation of lists which shall be forwarded to the council and bo incorporated in new issues of the handbook.
