LOSSES IN DAIRY HERDS
FEEDING ON CLOVER [bv telegraph —own correspondent] "\V HA X GAR EI, Thursday Mortality in the dairy herds in the Whangarei district,is causing concern, especially in some areas were clover bloat is especially prevalent. On the heavily top-dressed pastures of the Maunti and Maungatapere districts over 50 dairy cows have died. In other areas the loss has not been so heavy. Farmers are now allowing their herds only a short feed on the clover and then putting the cows on rougher and older pastures if available.
