DEATHS AND DAMAGE THOUSANDS MADE HOMELESS LANDSLIDES CAUSE HAVOC (Received October 19, ."5.5 p.m.) TOKIO, Oct. 18 The typhoon which caused deaths and heavy damage on Okinawa Island struck Kyushu island and killed 38 people. There are 33 missing and scores were injured. Thousands arc homeless. At Kagoshima, south-east of Nagasaki, hundreds' of fishing boats were destroyed. Landslides wrecked bridges and highways and disrupted communications.
