HOSPITAL AUXILIARY
INCREASE OF WORK CLOTHING AND COMFORTS SUPPLIES FOR MILITARY WARD At the meeting of the council of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary held on Wednesday afternoon find presided over by Mrs. A. D. Campbell, the report presented by the secretary. Miss L. Curzon, outlined the work of tho various branches and committees during tho past month. The sewing circle, Miss Curzon stated, had been busy making pyjamas and dressing gowns for the military ward at the hospital, over 80 pairs of tlie former having been sent.in. The number of garments sent to depot totalled 594, and 4/5 patients bad been provided with complete outfits. Wards had been supplied with dressing gowns, pyjamas, nightgowns, bed-sox, bedjackets, cardigans, etc., and the isolation ward was given another supply of children's dresses. Orders for extra nourishment totalled 22 and several patients had been provided with tramfares.
The secretary further reported that owing to tho needs of tho military ward, purchasing had been heavier than usual. In addition, material had been purchased for supplying the clothing needs of other patients, while 142 patients had received assistance in some form or another during the month. Warm appreciation of the work carried out by the auxiliary was expressed by the lady superintendent of the hospital, Miss E. M. Nutsey, and Major Annie Gordon paid a tribute to the sewing circle for its work.
The election of the executive committee resulted as follows:—Mrs. L. F. Webster, Mrs. Bruce Hutton, Mrs. M. M. Droaver, Miss A. H. G. Basten, Miss M. Ormond, Major Annie Gordon, and Major M. Hart.
