AMERICAN REPUBLICS MESSAGE FROM ROOSEVELT STAND FOR NEUTRALITY (Received October 10, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Oct. 18 Acting in concert with 20 other American republics, . President Roosevelt sent a message to King Gustav of Sweden placing American moral support behind the Stockholm conference's stand for Baltic neutrality, says a Washington message. Mr. Roosevelt's message read: "The conference of the Nordic States convened by Your Majesty will be followed with deep interest by the Government and the people of tlie United States. Under the circumstances which exist this Government joins the Governments of the other American republics in expressing support of the principles of neutrality and order under the law for which the nations represented at Stockholm have throughout history taken a consistent stand." The President of Finland, M. Kyosti Kallio, in a message to President Roosevelt. says: ''Your personal valuable assistance and interest in Finland's fate and her difficult problems will never be forgotten."
