FULL WAR EQUIPMENT SANDBAGS IN LONDON MORE FRENCH MOBILISATION ITALIANS CLOSE FRONTIER

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August 27, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, Acer. 27 Territorials are leaving London depots with full war equipment, in which new anti-aircraft guns are prominent, says the Independent Cable Service. Telephones are choked, the most heavy delays being on long distance, while it is becoming increasingly difficult to raise th« Continent. Many big London buildings, including the Mansion House, have been protected with sandbags, and hundreds of women members of the Auxiliary Army have been called up. The P. and O. Company announces that the liner Strathmore, at present en route to Bermuda, has been recalled. All Italians, with the exception of the Consul, have been requested to quit Gibraltar. The Sunday newspapers in Paris publish pictures of British troops and sailors landing at Dieppe on Saturday and proceeding to a secret destination.

.Three new reserves of the French Army have, been authorised for mobilisation, and there are now 2,200,000 troops under arms. Italy has closed the Franco-Italian frontier, along which Italian troops are massing. The morning press in Paris yesterday summed up the national feeling; "We do not want this horrible caricature of peace any longer.
