MACHINE TOWED TO FIELD SUCCESSFUL TAKE-OFF MADE [by TELEGRAPH —OWN COttItESrONDENT] BLENHEIM; Monday The Tiger Moth aeroplane piloted by Mr. TV. Howell, of Palmerston Nortli, which made a successful emergency landing in a small flat area in the hill country of Pelorus Sound 011 Sunday morning, was placed on a punt to-day and towed 12 miles by launch to Eli Bay, whero there is an emergency landing ground. Mr. Howell took off successfully this afternoon, and after clocking in over Blenheim aerodrome at * 3.20 p.m., headed direct for Palmorston North. The pilot performed a remarkablo feat in bringing the machine; which is the property of the Middle Districts (Manawatu), Aero Club, down 011 to the only suitable piece of country in the district in which the emergency landing was made. The area was by no moans ideal, however, and to bring the machine down without damaging it was a creditable performance.
