TROTTERS FOR SOUTH KENWORTHY INCLUDED PROSPECTS OF CIIUDIC PARISIENNE'S NEW MARKS BY ABAYDOS In addition to F. .T. Smith's four horses—King's Warrior, Ironside, Swordsman and Noll Volo—-Kemvorthy and the Hamilton trotter Clmdic will represent the Auckland Province at the Addington trotting meeting next month. Other well-known horses, now trained in the South Island, who are engaged are Mute, To Kahu, Great Jewel, Norvio's Last, Manna's Son, Kind's Play and Parisienne. With the exception of a visit two years ago to Wanganui, Hawera and New Plymouth, Konworthy has done all his racing in the Auckland district and, in. view of his splendid form at all distances this season, his record being three firsts, five seconds and two thirds in 12 starts, ho will bo a keenlyscrutinised visitor to tlio Southern meeting. Assessed on 2.46, 3.20 and 4.28, Kenworthv figures in the August Handicap, 4.28; International, Dash and Farowell Handicaps, 2.45; King's Handicap, 3.19; and National Plate Handicap, 4.27. 'Kemvorthy is likely to bo driven by A. W. Broughton, who drove tlio pacer to victory in the C. F. Mark Memorial Handicap. Chudic, who raced in tlio South Island as a pacer, won two races lor C. Moran at the trotting gait, and is assessed in the latter department at 3.34 and 4.57. Ho is entered for the Introductory and Midwinter Handicaps, 3.34, and tlio Improvers' Handicap, 4.49. Swordsman, on 3.33 and 4.46, is engaged in the same events. Nervie's Last Let Up Nell Volo is handicapped on 3.28 and 4.39, and her races are tho Stewards' Handicap, 4.38; Avon Handicap, 3.28; and Addington Handicap, 3.27. Ironside, assessed on 2.45, 3.17 and 4.24, is in the International, Dash, and Farewell Handicaps, and the King's Handicap, while King's Warrior, 2.43, 3.1G and 4.24, is in tho August, National Plate, Dash and Farewell Handicaps. Nervio's Last, let up in the spruit distance from 2.45 to 2.4/, is in the Selwyn, Speedway and Federal Handicaps. 2.48, and the tighter Farewell Handicap. On 3.20 for a mile and alialf, Nervie's Last appears in tho Canterbury Handicap, 3.22, and the 3.1 v King's Handicap. Ho is in the two miles August Handicap, in which Ins lino is 4.28, and also in the 4.27 National Plato Handicap. In spite of advancing years, Muto appears to bo better than over. Ho won two races this season at Epsom, and late in tho term joined D. Bennett's stable at Addington. Mute registered tho best effort of hjs caieer at Asliburton, going 3.18 4-5, to bo beaten by Captain Bolt, who trotted a course record of 3.15 2-5, to beat the Auckland-owned gelding. He is on o.zo and 4.39. . Manna's Son raced consistently alter being sent to R. W. Franks, being placed in three consecutive starts. He missed at his next outing, but followed up with a victory. He commences the new season on 3.32 and 4.44. Tc Knhti did "not do much racing this season, but, purchased by W. Hosking, tho trotter went South to J. Eraser, And in his first fit art at Addington proved his worth by winning in 3.20 2-5. He was responsible for the fast pace at Asliburton when Captain I3olt made his record. Te Kahu is now on 3.28 and 4.39. Great Jewel Makes Good Great Jewel, one of tho finest staving sons of Jewel Pointer, made good once he struck form for R. 13. Berry, and. his last four starts produced two firsts and a second. Great Jewel has reached a 2.48, 3.24 and 4.34 line, and Berry, who holds a very high opinion of his charge, expects to get Mr. D. Brideson's pacer into the best grade. King's Play, whose four wins and several placed efforts gave him premier position in the stakes winning list, lias reached the tight assessment of 2.43, 3.1t and 4.23, but, as ho has a winning record of 4.15, and is tho type of pacer who is likely to mako further improvement, he will take further honours. With Morello, 4.25, and King's Play, M. C. McTiguc will have a sound combination in the Now Zealand Trotting Cup. Parisienne, whose success at Forbury Park in 4.15 3-5 makes her the holder of the world's race record for marcs, is with Indianapolis given prido of place in tlio mile and a-half and two miles assessments, with 3.14 and 4.22, while her 2.41 mark at a mile and a-qunrtcr is one second looser than that of Indianapolis. Parisienne was the winner of tho Inter-Dominion Championship Handicap last season. Her stablemate, Lucky Jack, who won the 1937 New .Zealand Trotting Cup off 4.26, and was second last November off 4.22, is assessed for the new season on 4.23. Three other North Island horses listed for Addington are Franz Derby, King Franz and Kffie Parrish, who aro trained in Palmerston North. Effio Parrish raced brilliantly at a mile and a-qnarter on the West Coast circuit for one in her class, and has further prospects from a 2.50 and 3.2G line. King Franz did not show tho improvement indicated by his sound form last season, but ho faced tho starter on only three occasions. A return to his best will give him prospects off tho limit of the 4.49 Improvers' Handicap, as lie is a genuine stayer. Franz Derby, who has mado her way to a 3.27 and 4.38 mark, had a busy season, and, while she won but twice, she ran many fine races, and thrived on travelling and racing. QUEEN MARY HANDICAP POOR FIELD FOR RICH PRIZE The response from only five owners for the- Queen Mary Handicap, of £SOO, limit 4.31, to be run on the first day of the Metropolitan Trotting Club's August meeting, is difficult to explain. Under the special conditions of the pro.gramme, the stake, should the winner record tho fastest winning time of the day 'at two miles, will bo increased to £750. Tho five entrants aro Frisco Lady, Silver Guy, Horse Power, Sea Gift and Marsceres. Silver Gny is giving away 12yds., and Sea Gift is a trotter assessed oil 4.28, but has an allowance of two seconds. Although only fivo nominated in this event, on the' Jlnnl day, tho Hcathcoto Handicap, also with a 4.31 limit, has drawn nine additional pacers, although several, unless successful on tho first and second days, will bo giving away time. Tho fresh horses in tho Hoathcote Handicap aro: Great Jcwol, Southern Chief, 4.34; Icevus, 4.33; Heel Ranger, Nell Grattan, Marlcne 4.32; Carver Doono, 4.30; Donald Dhu, 4.29; and Rey Spec, 4.28.
