WAITAKERE PARK
Sir, —If effect is to be given to J.IC.L.'s suggestion that removal of timber from this area be stopped, a much larger sum than that provided under the Mayor's scheme must be available. Years ago £15,000 would have gone a long way, but the opportunity was missed. Under existing circumstances the acquisition of fin adequate memorial park in the ranges will cost £40,000. And, if £22,000 can be dispersed in "celebrations" and £200,000 on municipal golf links, why not? E. Eaiu.k Vaile.
