WHANGAREI SAWMILLERS

Saturday Discussing the proposal of the Government that sawmills should install kilns for timber drying, members at tho annual meeting of the Whangarei Sawmillers' Association stated that small mills could not stand the expense involved. It was contended that if theGovernment housing scheme, for which seasoned timber was required, was completed sooner than expected, the millers would have on their hands an expensive plant for which they would have comparatively little nse. Officers were elected as follows: — President, Mr. C. Pt. Lovatt; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. W. H. Beehre and 0. S. Lovatt; delegates to the Dominion Federation of Sawmillers, Mr. 0. fa. Lovatt; delegates to the annual meeting of the federation, Messrs. \Y. I'L Beehre and C. S. Lovatt; secretary iMiss T. E. Parkinson. ' -
