COLLIERY TRAGEDY
FIVE MEN PERISH FIRE IN LANCASHIRE PIT LONDON. June 0 A fire in a seam 800 yards below the surface of the Astloy Green Colliery, Lancashire, caused the loss of five lives, the dead including the manager. It is believed that three of the victims were cut off and that the others died in attempting to save them. Rescuers risked gas in retrieving several injured men.
