The fourth test between England and South Africa was drawn, the visitors, with six wickets standing, playing out time after Melville had declared the Springboks' first innings closed, 134 runs better than the Englishmen's initial effort. The wicket was soft and slippery in tho morning, and it favoured the spin bowlers. Verity bowled unchanged, takit ing his fiftieth wicket for the tour. There were 225 minutes left for play when England commenced its second innings against accurate bowling. Hut--r ton batted for 100 minutes, but hit only one boundary. Gibb was in 144 minutes for 45 runs. Grieveson, who replaced W. W. Wade, took three brilliant catches behind the stumps. ■" Hammond played very confidently, 1 and made many typical cover drives.
